Je Suis Charlie
Mom and Dad,
You have probably heard about the shooting in Paris the other day, I'm writing to let you know that I am safe and as of the other week I am no longer in Paris but I am in Biarritz. This shooting is tragic and it always hurts me to hear of these things. What they are saying happened was that a group of Muslim extremists walked into the building of the french magazine Charlie Hebdo and shot and killed 12 out of 25 of the people who run the magazine, including it's editor. the attack was provoked by a cartoon the magazine published that disrespected Islamic culture and religion. What happened is horrible, people don't deserve to die because of a disrespectful cartoon. it's not fair to take someones life away because you feel offended. there are other ways to retaliate. No one deserves that kind of punishment, it's terrible. By taking these persons lives away you are also punishing everyone who loves them. Inflicting pain on innocent people. This world is not fair and people say and do awful things, but killing someone because they were being rude and ignorant? That's not right, that's not how this world should be working.
On the other hand I have enjoyed my time in France and I hope everything at home is going well.
